  • 1.  Netsight - EWC - AP down Email is empty

    Hi guys,

    a customer using EWC and Netsight configured Email alert when AP goes down.
    Custom alarm criteria set to wireless, matched to "out of service".
    Under actions / override content - Email body is like:
    Device: $deviceIp
    Severity: $severity
    Message: $message

    But email looks like this:

    Device:
    System:
    Location:
    Description:
    Severity: Critical Message: AP[150xxxxxxxxxx] out of Service on EWC[10.xxx.xxx.xxx]

    Why are these fields empty?
    Also tried $alarmSourceName only, this worked fine.

    Any suggestions on this?

    The fields in your mail are empty because the APs are not managed by Netsight - that is normal.
    The APs are managed by the controller so that information isn't available to Netsight as the AP isn't a real device in Netsight - it's just another "interface" on the controller.

    just replace the settings in "edit action overrides" with my settings (previous post)..

    now I see, i thought i have to change any other settings.
    Is it also possible to get the location and the discription of the AP?

    Hi everybody,

    I did a test on our system and got the following results. Only these commands work in an email when an AP went down:

    $severity
    $message
    $alarmName
    $alarmSource
    $alarmSourceName
    $severity
    $type
    $trigger
    $server
    $time
    $message
    $eventType
    $eventSeverity
    $eventCategory
    $eventTitle

    Anyone with more commands?
