Questions and answers from this session:

Q: When will be able to run XMC on port 443 instead of 8443 without breaking the NAC integration?

A: (Coming soon from our experts, check back a bit later!)

Q: ACL policy are not compatible with ERS & VSP

A: Louis, "compatibility" is a large topic, however if you meant "can I use same XMC UI do design and deploy ACLs for VSP and ERS" - then answer is no, we can't do it today

Q: Can I use ZTP+ to configure stacked switches?

A: HI Dominik, although there are some specifics within that procedure.

Q: Can we use this ACL-Rules for VSP NAC deployments as well ?

A: Currently ACL Style policy is an EXOS feature.

Q: Extreme Management Center - How to enable the AP Aware Feature in Extreme Management Center Policy Manager

A: It's a feature of Policy in EXOS. Here's a link to a GTAC Knowledge article: https://gtacknowledge.extremenetworks.com/articles/How_To/EMC-How-to-enable-the-AP-Aware-Feature-in-EMC-s-Policy-Manager

Q: How about using Ansible-Scripts in parallel to XMC, is this possible or is XMC then running out of sync with the switches?

A: Hi Meep. yes you can combine scripting and cli with XMC

Q: How long will it take to bring an ACL to about 1200 switches?

A: It depends on multiple factors including latency and number of other policies being pushed.  XMC supports upto 10k managed devices.

Q: How To: What configuration is needed for ZTP+ (Zero Touch Provisioning Plus) | Extreme Portal

A: @Dominik, sorry, clicked on send too early. Details on ZTP+ with stacking are here https://extremeportal.force.com/ExtrArticleDetail?n=000011218&q=ZTP%2B%20stacking

Q: Is in 8.5 an enhancement to exclude information out of tables and lists like table copy in the legacy java console?

A: You can define more filters, it was enhanced but "exclude" is not there. The legacy Java based client has this option.

Q: Is it possible to add a Deny any rule in the end of the rules

A: The Role Default Action defines either permit, deny, or contain to VLAN.

Q: is their any plans for VSP to support Policy ACL's?

A: Hi WiFiCreep, please attend roadmap session of Virtual Connect, I believe you will hear lots of good news there :)

Q: Is there a option that allow me to ack the events in the log area of xmc ? With alarms it's possible but not with events 8the old java console has this feature, too and it was very helpfull)

A: (Coming soon from our experts, check back a bit later!)

Q: Is there a possibility to filter the incoming data to throw not needed data away an stay inside the license limits?

A: (Coming soon from our experts, check back a bit later!)

Q: May the SD internal disk be mirrored in Raid 1 configuration?

A: (Coming soon from our experts, check back a bit later!)

Q: The GUI part os Exos is not really perfect. Any changes?

A: XMC is a great alternative :)

Q: The plan of implementing the Fabric Manager in XMC instead of another VM was on Roadmap for XMC 8.5. Will this feature be implemented in the next XMC release?

A: Manuel, this session is about what we do have in our portfolio right now. For roadmap and future product developments please attend respective Virtual Connect sessions

Q: The presenter mentioned that the new ACL mode can co-exist with the older hierarchy mode. How? Wouldn't an EXOS switch function in only one mode? in XMC, it's also a global checkbox, so how would it know which switch is using which mode?

A: (Coming soon from our experts, check back a bit later!)

Q: Under Vlan summary in EMC will you be able to view the device nicknames instead of device IP addresses? We have over 2000 Switches in EMC and viewing by IP address adds no benefit when investigating vlans.

A: (Coming soon from our experts, check back a bit later!)

Q: what are the EXOS stacking improvements in XMC 8.5?

A: (Coming soon from our experts, check back a bit later!)

Q: When are we going to be able to run XMC on port 443 instead of 8443 without breaking the NAC engine

A: (Coming soon from our experts, check back a bit later!)

Q: It seems that once a device is added to EMC, the only way to change its IP address is by removing it and adding it again with the new IP. Does the new version maybe allow changing the IP address on existing elements or can it be a feature request?

A: (Coming soon from our experts, check back a bit later!)

Q: any update on when A3 will be added into XMC?

A: (Coming soon from our experts, check back a bit later!)

Q: Are there any plans to make the map a bit easier to use to organize and lay out switches?

A: (Coming soon from our experts, check back a bit later!)

Q: Can you migrate all dot1x policies to XIQ from XMC?

A: Currently XIQ APs are configured and managed via XIQ, so the 802.1X configurations are all configured from there.

Q: Can you now LOG or send events upon a rule hit ?

A: (Coming soon from our experts, check back a bit later!)

Q: Does this show monitoring of AVB traffic or  MSRP streams?

A: (Coming soon from our experts, check back a bit later!)

Q: Exisitng installs. Can you migrate existing older rules to that of new ACL Format, then in turn add additional rules.

A: (Coming soon from our experts, check back a bit later!)

Q: Hi, Other Brands like CISCO does support ACLs is it possible to control other brand switches using this feature ?

A: (Coming soon from our experts, check back a bit later!)

Q: how will an eXOS switch deal with having both filtering modes, the old old and the new one? and how will XMC handle it per switch?

A: (Coming soon from our experts, check back a bit later!)

Q: Is there an easy way to detect a network storm or loop?

A: (Coming soon from our experts, check back a bit later!)

Q: Since XMC is based off SNMP - Can I Manage ANY Network Device that Supports SNMP with XMC?! Live Windows & Dell Servers and Devices?

A: XMC can certainly monitor any SNMP device using standard MIB.  Vendor MIBs may also be imported.

Q: What is the current status of analytics data deduping, and no longer requiring me to view each engine separately in Application Flows?

A: (Coming soon from our experts, check back a bit later!)

Q: With the ACL's, can you AND Variables? such as DEST IP AND specific TCP PORT #?

A: (Coming soon from our experts, check back a bit later!)
