Summary:

After upgrading to VOSS/Fabric Engine release 8.6.0.x or 8.6.1.0 on the VSP7400, 5520, 5420 or 5320 platforms, egress queues may become blocked - if fiber ports are administratively up and operationally down with no optics inserted.

Impact:

Egress traffic will be impacted, resulting in protocol failures and loss of connectivity through the switch.

Products Affected

VSP 7400
5520 running Fabric Engine
5420 running Fabric Engine
5320 running Fabric Engine

Software Affected

VOSS 8.6.0.1
VOSS 8.6.1.0
Fabric Engine 8.6.0.1
Fabric Engine 8.6.1.0

Workaround:

The port initialization interaction can be avoided by administratively disabling fiber ports that do not have optics inserted prior to upgrading to 8.6.0.1 or 8.6.1.0.

Solution:

This issue is addressed in VOSS/Fabric Engine releases 8.6.1.1 and 8.7.0.0
