I work at a school. We are using an Extreme C35 controller. We have carts of laptops in classrooms next to each other. Is there a way to force the laptops to always connect to a particular AP so that they don't roam to nearby units?

We are looking at possibly 6 SSIDs. That would allow us to have unique connections for each room in a hallway. We can use the same SSIDs in other halls as they are physically far enough apart that they shouldn't cause a problem.

Could be that you'd also do it with less SSIDs - here a example if you've one AP / room.
The signal should be low enough so clients don't connect to a AP/room far away.

You'd setup one SSID/WLAN service per cart that you only advertise on the AP in that room.

All could share the same topology/role = subnet/VLAN.

If you'd like to move cart#1 to AP-room#3 you'd need just to enable the SSID cart#1 on that AP.

Can't think about any other solution.

I agree. That looks like the best route. Thank you all for all of your help.
