Newly created stack 7.8.4 firmware with saved configuration reboots and has a * in front of CLI like it needs a save. I run save conf primary and it goes away. Run reboot command and switches (2 in stack) reboot and it comes back. my changes are still present.
I have put IP's on default vlan, set password on admin account, created another admin account
save config all.. ran out of ideas.

Thanks for your interest in this.
Here is a screenshot of the fresh reboot and sh log command. Short answer, nothing that I can see in log.
