reason for my questions, a consulting company that helped us migrate to dynamics 2013, is noticing that when they run a query from the server the report is generated. however when the client runs the report the hour glass just spins because the TCP connection either time-out or was closed. client - extremeSW - ospf (54ms) to our coreSW - FW which the vlan is behind the FW. The Fortigate FW's default TCP time-out is 60min. Trying to determine where it is dropped, i guess I need to fire up Wireshark.

Sidney, You can also perform an SNMP get against OID 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.2.0 to get the default ttl value or ping an interface on the switch.

X450e-48p.12 # show snmp get 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.2.0
mib_2.4.2.0 = 64

* X450e-48p.14 # ping 11.11.11.11
Ping(ICMP) 11.11.11.11: 4 packets, 8 data bytes, interval 1 second(s).
16 bytes from 11.11.11.11: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=1.060 ms
16 bytes from 11.11.11.11: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=10 ms
16 bytes from 11.11.11.11: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.335 ms
16 bytes from 11.11.11.11: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=8.085 ms

TTL is measured in hops. So anytime the packet is routed.
