Hi All,

I am new to the extreme switch configuration. Can u pls help in understanding the sh switch command ,

Current State: OPERATIONAL
Image Selected: primary
Image Booted: primary
Primary ver: 16.1.3.6
patch1-8
Secondary ver: 15.5.2.9

Config Selected: secondary.cfg
Config Booted: secondary.cfg

secondary.cfg Created by ExtremeXOS version 16.1.3.6

What's the difference between Image Selected/Image booted and config selected/config booted.

Regards,

Mayur

Hi Mayur,

The .CFG file is the configuration file it is just that the name is secondary it can be primary, Test,etc...
Regardless of the partition the switch booted the same configuration will be used.

I hope this helps!

Thanks a lot Ronald for the quick reply:).

Just a follow up question, as I am popped with lots of query, eager to learn more on the subject:)

Config Selected: secondary.cfg ---> . This means that the current configuration is being read from the secondary sw ver files. Even though the sw is being used is of primary(i mean the image). Am I right

Hi Mayur,

EXOS store two versions of code in RAM. The two versions are Primary and Secondary.
The show switch command lets you see what versions of software are loaded into the switch,

version the switch is running on (Image Booted) and what version will be loaded the next time the switch boots (Image Selected).

Karthikeyan

thanks marayanan for the reply.
