I have a stack with 4 nodes.
2x X670V-48x

They are runnning 15.3.2.11

I'm seeing this error in the log
08/15/2015 18:48:55.70 Slot-1: shid_eeprom_read (67): data read failed at 1 out of 1
08/15/2015 18:48:55.70 Slot-1: i2c-1: shid_eeprom_read:5278 I/O failed, addr 0x0050 rd/wr 1 cmd 0 proto 1, rc 145

Did a stack reboot same problem

So I wanted to update the image.

Slot 2,3,4 no problem
But in slot 1 i'm getting this error:
Error: Failed to download image - Certificates missing; Image signature validation will be bypassed.

I have tried image:
summitX-15.7.1.4-patch1-2.xos
summitX-16.1.1.4.xos
With same result.

Any ideas?

Regarding the message:
code:
Error: Failed to download image - Certificates missing; Image signature validation will be bypassed.

This is part of a new feature in EXOS 16.1 to provide Image Integrity Checking. Depending on your upgrade/downgrade path, this message would be displayed.

After the first installation of EXOS >= 16.1, all subsequent downloaded images can be validated using the bundled certificate/key. Downgrading from an EXOS version supporting digital signatures to one that doesn't is allowed and a warning message is displayed on the CLI to remind the user that the image is not digitally signed by Extreme Networks.

I was the stacking cable that gave me the problem. Changed the cable and now it works

Looks like a hardware problem to me.
But if it is purely related to eprom then GTAC might help to recover it.
