hi
we have extreme networks summit x460-24t switch
It is configured to allocate dhcp ip on vlan 101-400 of the type 172.16.<vlan>.<2-255>
How can I look into its MAC address table for specific mac address ?
example - my computer mac id is 6c-3b-e5-22-a9-19 .
so I want to know what IP this mac got without knowing the vlan.
I want to avoid command 'show vlan<id> dhcp-address-allocation' .

Thanks.

Hi Sumeet,

It seem that you can look inside FDB. I mean "show fdb ".

If you have new generation, you can use new feature of EXOS 22.2 = node-alias.

You will see all identity information the mac address used. Even if staticaly configured, even if wrong configured.

to Brad Parker
'show iparp' gives ip addresses allocated in default virtual router .
'show iparp <vr-name>' is for looking at ip addresses allocated in other vr.
Thanks.

to Alexandr P
'show iparp <mac-id>' is what I was looking for as it filters out other mac addresses.
Thanks.

to Mrxlazuardin
'show fdb' doesn't give ip info.
Didn't know fdb was forwarding database table of mac address (layer 2) and ports.

to  Pala, Zdenek,
what is node alias ?
Also I don't know how to determine my XOS version .

You have X460-G1 so you can't use EXOS 22.2.

To look EXOS version:
#show switch
#show version images

Just FYI - http://documentation.extremenetworks.com/release_notes/ExtremeXOS/22.2/EXOS_Release_Notes/22.2/c_nod...

Thank you!

Hi Sumeet,

Yes, FDB will not show IP directly, but you can find VLAN. It can be usefull if client is wrong configured so it doesn't get IP and/or statically configured. As long as I know, the ARP is only works if the client is configured with IP of the right subnet, dynamically or statically.

Anyway, I rather suggest to use DHCP server outside the switch. The switch can be used as DHCP relay. Linux based DHCP server log is more handy to analyze than the switch.

Agreed and if I'm not mistaken, you can only show the IP ARP if the switch has an IP in that same VLAN.

You can use Extreme Management Center = NetSight with flexview available here = https://github.com/extremenetworks/Netsight-Report-Views/tree/master/FlexView/EXOS

It is there under name "Learned MAC to IP"

Good luck

how to import flexview is here. Once you have the flexview in your Extreme Management Center you can OneView -> Network -> choose your devices, right click -> View -> FlexView

Use XMC tool called compass search. And put there MAC or IP and hit the search button.
