C5(su)->
Cause
These .z-type compressed files are created as part of the debug capability which was implemented in release 6.42.01. The debug logic creates dump files when an unexpected reset ("sysDmp") or other system event ("snapDmp") occurs, thereby providing additional diagnostic information for Enterasys engineering use.

Any given switch unit may archive up to 3 system dump and 16 snap dump files. These files are not user-maintainable.

The "other system event" conditions which could trigger a snap dump include a unit "stack leave" event, a change of the stack management role to a different stack unit, renumbering a stack unit, triggering of spantree loop protection, etc. In general, this will make system dump files more worthy of follow-up investigation than snap dump files - and even then, the BackTrace data in the current.log may well be sufficient to diagnose the problem (12664).

Solution
After opening a GTAC support case, the traditional background information - consisting of the 'show support' output plus the full current.log as extracted per the TFTP procedure outlined in 5487 - may as desired be submitted to Enterasys for review.

The "sysDmp" and "snapDmp" files may optionally also be extracted by a TFTP process similar to that of the current.log, and submitted to Enterasys within the context of the above-stated materials.

With firmware 6.42.01.0046 through 6.42.05.0001, the dump files are visible in the output of a 'dir' or 'show support' command.
With firmware 6.42.06.0008 through 6.42.08.0007, the dump files are visible in the output of a 'dir Dmp' command.
With firmware 6.42.09.0005 and higher, the dump files are visible in the output of a 'dir Dmp' or 'show support' command.

To copy a named file:    copy logs/sw1/sysDmp1Oct0810.z tftp://10.20.30.40/sysDmp1Oct0810.z
To bundle/copy all files: copy Dmp tftp://10.20.30.40/allDmp.z
These examples assume a TFTP Server IP address of 10.20.30.40.

Also see this HowTo Video which explains how to consolidate and copy all dump files.
