How Extreme Networks support dual homing of its switches to a backbone network?

Hi,

Does Extreme Networks support dual homing (or multi-homing) of its switches to provide redundancy in a network?

Does it support multiple Virtual Private LAN Service instances on virtual connections (e.g. pseudowires)?

Thanks,
Praveen

Hi Erik,

Thank you for all the information on my query. It's great to be associated with you on a technical network.

Hi Praveen,

I have not been aware of RFC 6870, Pseudowire Preferential Forwarding Status Bit, thanks for the pointer. 🙂

As far as I can determine EXOS does not seem to support this RFC. The RFCs supported by EXOS are usually listed in the EXOS data sheet.

I did not find a reference to this RFC in the data sheet, the user guide, the command reference, or the EXOS 22.3 release notes.

Regards,
Erik

Hi Erik,

Could you please help me with 1 more query on the above discussion?

With reference to the following link:
http://documentation.extremenetworks.com/exos_16/EXOS_16_2/MPLS/c_vpls-eaps-redundancy-overview.shtm...

I have seen a similar configuration in IETF Request for Comments 6870 (Figure 3. Multiple Multi-Homed CEs with SS-PW Redundancy). Link: https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6870

Does Extreme Networks support RFC 6870 technology in its products? I did a search on Extreme Networks website but did found direct link with RFC 6870.

Thank you.

Regards,
Praveen
