How to use ZTP+

How to use ZTP+

Hello Community,

I'm currently trying to set up a ZTP+ staging area in our testlab.
So far I've set up the DHCP-Server and DNS-Server. I know that the Switch (Summit x450-G2 Fw: 22.3.1.4) gets an IP and can reach the EMC ( Fw: 8.0.3.53). In the Discovered-Tab I can only see the Switch via normal ZTP but not ZTP+. I tried to pre-register the Device but that didn't help. Did I forget to do something?

In the EMC User Guide it says, that I have to enable ZTP+ for the Site I'm adding the Switches.
But the Enable ZTP+ checkbox under the Discovered Device Actions-Tab is missing.

Could someone please help?

Thanks in advance,
Michael

Hi,

There is the release note about CC 3.0.

Hi,

Poll type set to ZTP+ will work only if you are running CC 3.0, version that you need to install in the firmware tab of EMC 8.0. You can download it from Extreme github. Please note, CC 3.0 doesn't work with EMC 7.0 and before.

CC 3.0 is not required for ZTP+ to work. EXOS includes a version of CC natively (1.x - depends on EXOS version) since 21.1 to perform the ZTP+ feature.

if you confirm that:
- the switch is in factory default
- it's not a stack
- it runs at least 21.1
- there's no default.xsf nor autoexec.xsf files
- it can reach DHCP, have an IP and DNS options
- it can reach DNS to resolve extremecontrol (IP of EMC)

then you need to connect to it, go under the cc_logs directory (cd cc_logs), and upload the files you should find there. They should tell what is going wrong.

Hello Guys,

here another update:

I managed to discover a device with ZTP+ I think by changing the Poll Type from SNMP to ZTP+ under Network>Devices>World>ZTP+DeviceDefaults.

I was unsure how I did it so I wanted to try again and issued the "unconfigure Switch all" Command in the CLI. In the User Guide I read that no Console cable may be connected to the device otherwise ZTP+ Transaction would fail so I removed the cable from the console port while still having one cable connected to the DNS-/DHCP-Server and EMC while the Switch restarted. But after that I still had the same issue as explained above.

Kind regards
Michael
