Interface % Usage Alarm in Netsight

Interface % Usage Alarm in Netsight

Hello,
We have netsight 6.3 and Extreme switches. I was looking into the Alarm Manager, alarm name Interface % Usage. It looks like a handy alarm, that we could use to alert us on usage of an uplink for example. I saw the HUB post about adding a device group, (Calling it PortGroup1 in the example), then add the specific interface ports. (The example on the HUB was for link down. Which shows up as a "by selected trap option" and has the snmp trap defined.)

For interface % usage, it points to a criteria of By Threshold.
When I go to that and read the statistic description (screen shot below) does this mean the alarm won't work with anything other than snmpV1 / V2? I set the alarm up to a low threshold for a port, and don't get any alert, so I'm wondering if that's it, or if I'm missing a step. Or is there another way?

Essentially we'd like to be notified via email (we have alarm notification alerts working on other items) when the utilization on a port gets to a certain value.

Thank you

I

Hello Sarah,

It will work with any version of SNMP. These alarms will work off of OneView stats collection. Please see the following KCS article that explains how to set this up (you would just need Interface stats for this alarm to work):

Thank you Bob, this is a great resource. Many thanks.
