Manual AP upgrades

Manual AP upgrades

I have an AP3805i in our lab that we use when troubleshooting customer wireless issues - it gets connected up to their controllers so we can connect to the wifi and (hopefully) fix things.

This morning I've run into an issue where it refuses to update its code from the controller - not normally an issue, and I can do it locally with TFTP from the AP directly.

Problem is that I can't see how to extract the relevant AP image from the .zip file downloaded from the portal. I'm after the AP image for 10.31.03.12 - where can I find this / how can I get it from the controller?

Thanks

Paul.

If you've access to the controller you'd load it directly from the controller.
SSH into the controller and then use "shell" (same pw as admin).

cd /var/controller/images/ap/AP3805
then FTP to an FTP-server and use the put cmd to transfer the file

-Ron

That's the easiest option - I'll try and remember that for the next time I need to do this (probably in 1 years time or something!)

Thanks,

Paul.

Thanks, I'd looked at that page, but couldn't find the normal.tgz file anywhere. It may be good to update that page to say something like:

"The .cwe file found in the downloaded .zip file is actually a tar file. Rename it to .tar and then extract normal.tgz from it" - to avoid exactly what I did this morning 🙂
