Ridgeline 4 SP1 session timeout

I have an issue where telnet/ssh session timeout and freeze while viewing realtime output from the switch i.e. viewing port errors or viewing port configuration.

Anyone have an idea as to what could be causing this?

Hi Ian,

That's sounds like you could be running into a software issue.  Could you open a case with TAC @ 1-800-998-2408?  It will be interesting to see what they say about this.

Hi Reggie,

This may have been down to a software glitch on the switch (although it makes no sense)

I have upgrade the XOS firmware on the particular switches and all seems well now.

We were running 15.2.3.2 patch 1-4 on X670Vs. Were now running 15.3.1.4 patch 1-18.

Derailing the thread slightly but what's the best practise to report bugs in ridgeline. I have a found a few since the SP1 Patch 1 Update a few weeks ago.

You can open  a case with TAC @ 1-800-998-2408 regarding Ridgeline issue. 

I would say, you can upgrade your X670 switch to EXOS 15.3.1.4 patch 1-31. If you have access of esupport.extremenetworks.com then you can see  EXOS 15.3.1.4 patch 1-18 is not available and it has been removed. 

However, What are the issues you are facing on Ridgeline? I may try to help you.

Reason we've gone with 15.3.1.4 1-18 is because its been installed for a while but only just had an opportunity to reboot the switches. Working in a hospital, its a nightmare for downtime and maintenance windows.

Main issue I have with Ridgeline is I get a particular error whenever I try to edit settings in the alarm manager , see link. https://www.dropbox.com/s/2lugeki8fm4wcbx/AlarmError1.bmp

I can understand that, but if in near future you are going for an MW then I would recommend to upgrade.

Does this error only comes when you try to edit default profiles actions?
Is it fine if you can create new profile and edit the action field and see if you are getting similar errors?
Are you using proxy server for internet access?

It throws up the error either editing or creating a new profile.

Yes we use a proxy for internet access, but even disabling it, still gives the error message

 Did you disable the proxy setting under the Ridgeline server properties? 
Once you disable the proxy, clear the java cache using java control panel and restart the server and see if the issue will get disappear.

I am not seeing any error messages on RL 4.0 SP1 patch 1 while creating profile or editing profile. I would say if above step doesn't help then provide nms_server log to TAC for further investigation.

You mean under the "External Connections" menu? There is no proxy specified.

Yes, I belive so... 

Don't enable mirroring on EXOS 15.3.1.4 patch 1-18, else all egress traffic on switch would get blocked.
