Simulate a POE "Failed" state?

Simulate a POE "Failed" state?

We are testing some network monitoring rules, and would like to generate events/alarms when a port delivering POE transitions into the 'faulted' state.
Is there a way, preferably in software, to simulate a port experiencing a POE fault state?? We want it to generate the relevant SNMP trap.

Slot-1 Switch.1 # show inline-power info ports 2:18

Port State Class Volts Curr Power Fault
(mA) (Watts)
2:18 faulted ------ 0.0 0 0.000 UV/OV Fault
Slot-1 Switch.1 #
Thanks in advance!

Could you please open a GTAC case to further work on this issue? One of our GTAC engineer from your region will assist you further.

Ram,
We are already getting traps when there are log messages. My interest is in recreating the POE event which generates the log message. If the POE failure event (described earlier) doesn't occur, then we can't test the behaviour of our network management solution. So I'm trying to recreate the POE failure state of a port. If there is a command that can be issued on the switch to do this, great! Perhaps there is also a way to do this safely with a device connected to a POE port??

Thanks,
-Martin
