Spanning Tree (maximum VLANs) S0

Spanning Tree (maximum VLANs) S0

Hi,

The support limits for maximum protected VLANs are 1024 all though we have managed to add over 4000 vlans to S0 protected. All seems to be working, our Extreme are connected to some Cisco switches using STP as welll. The reason for so many vlans is that we are a ISP and wanted to pre prep our switches so the switching layer is transparent.

I just would like to know if someone else has also done this and what could be the impact with more than 1024 protected by S0,

I have added my spanning tree configuration to my drop box for reference,

We are using X670V switches, yes these switches take some time to boot but once working all is a 100%.

Best Regards

Hi,
Several limits related to Control Plane are limits that has been tested, in conjunction with other feature's limits. Nothing prevents you to go above those limits, up to the physical limitation (RAM, etc.). It may work fine in a given environment depending on what else is running on your system. It's difficult to have any certainty, tho. The X670's Control Plane is quite strong, hopefully.
