Support of L2 and L2CP Protocols over Metro Ethernet Network made with Extreme Networks Layer 3 switches?

Hi everybody, I have a metro ethernet network at work that we have recently changed most of the switches with Extreme Networks (most exactly X670G2 and X460) and one of my clients is making us the question about support os L2 and L2CP protocols like TP, RSTP, MSTP, PVST, R-PVST,EAPS, pause, LACP/LAMP, GARP/MRP, Link OAM, Port Authentication, E-LMI, LLDP over our Network , and if it had exceptions like discarded/peer/tunnel. We are going to offer to him a Layer 2 service with Qinq maybe,I know that this question is not specific at all, but if you have some information about this that you can share with me, I will appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Edison,

The feature you are looking for is Layer 2 Tunneling and Filtering. You can read more about it in Chapter 19 (p672) of the 16.1 User Guide.

Essentially the way this works is the MAC address of the L2CP traffic is swapped for a different MAC address as it crosses the service provider network, allowing it to be forwarded normally through this network. It is then flipped back on egress of the service provider network.

You may want to take a look at the feature matrix in the EXOS data sheet that shows which platform supports which feature.
