Supported device models for XMC vlan definiton tab

Hi,

We are using XMC latest 8.1.3.x. When I use "Configure Device" option on OneView some devices has "VLAN Deffiniton" tab and some don't. It seems Enterasys A2/A4/B5/C5/S4 models has this tab. But X440/X430 models on 16.x firmware does not have this tab. Also none of the third party devices (Cisco C2960/C3560/HP 2530/HP2920) has this tab.

So how does XMC decide to show this vlan tab? What does it look for? Or is the supported models hard-coded? Does this functionality is somehow extensible by our side by writing some plugins for Cisco or HP for example?

Regards,

Rahman

Any hint about this?

HI Rahman - In XMC 8.x we show that tab if the device supports the standard Q-BRIDGE-MIB.

So I need to find what file to edit for it to work. I looked into .json files under " /usr/local/Extreme_Networks/NetSight/appdata/System/deviceTypes/" but could not figure out what to edit. It seems Extreme.json file has some lines about "menuFlexViewFilters" but these are about "device view" tabs not "configure devices" tab;

"menuFlexViewFilters" : {
"value" : "Bridge,Entity MIB,Interface,LLDP,RMON,RMON2,Standard,VLAN,Node Alias,Secure Networks,XOS,",
"type" : "STRING"
},

Rahman

As far as I understand it, support for Q-BRIDGE-MIB is not dynamically probed, but XMC has a list of devices (via the respective SNMP OID) that are known to actually support the Q-BRIDGE-MIB sufficiently well to be used for VLAN configuration.
Anybody, please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks,Erik
