using OneView -> Devices as a predictive wireless signal tool

I'm running NetSight v.6.3.0.142. I currently import floor plans and build out the maps using the Devices tool in OneView. It's great because it gives me a visual of where I might have gaps in coverage and I can quickly see how channels are laid out. I understand that it's strictly predictive, but I've found that if I spend the time to accurately map out the floor, it's pretty close to actual coverage.

With that said, I was wondering if there is a way to use the same tool to predict wireless coverage. In other words, I would like to build a floor plan and drop APs (that aren't installed yet) in to the map to get a sense as to how the signal will propagate. Again, I understand that it is strictly predictive, but I think it would be a good starting point.

Thanks,

Hi Rich,

Sorry for the late response,

I do not think OneView can be used as Wireless Predicted Survey tool for future AP deployments.

My recommendation is to use dedicated tools such as Ekahau, Airmagnet or Fluke for Predicted Survey.

Thanks,
