VLAN Default cannot see other switch VLAN Default!!

Our client has existing distribution HP switch which is just layer2 switch has a configuration in VLAN Default 192.168.123.10/24 for the managing of their switch.

We are implementing new core switch x670 which I configured our VLAN default to 192.168.122.1 and has a VLAN 123 which is 192.168.123.1

Our gateway/router is 192.168.3.254

Problem:
Laptop from HP switch can ping the core and router, but laptop from core cannot ping the HP switch default IP and laptop IP.

How to resolve this?
Is there any configuration need?
I will try tomorrow traceroute and arp from core to hp switch.

Thanks and Best Regards,
Gerald

Hi David, Hi Hagemann,

Thanks for your reply.

You are correct. missing gateway IP address is the solution.

I already PING all VLANs when configured the gateway.

Thanks,
Gerald Sazon

Hi Gerald,

Like as Hagemann already mentioned, it looks like this is a problem of default gateway or routing.
But more detail information regarding the topology and your test is required to understand the issue exactly.

For example.
  • How are the switches / router / laptops connected each other (e.g. port / vlan information)
  • How are the switches / router / laptops configured (e.g. IP address and gateway)

Sounds like a missing default gateway.
