Must I have an LDP route to get the VPLS up, if I have RSVP labels for the 2 LSR's loopback ip addresses?

It should work only with RSVP-TE for the transport label, the T-LDP session for the service label is signalled from the "VPLS add peer" command. I noticed you used strict hops in the ERO, try using a dynamic RSVP-TE path ("any").

After I lowered OSPF interface costing, so that the OSPF SPF path went the same path as my strict hops, the VPLS started using the RSVP strict path.

I wanted to use RSVP to force traffic a path other than the OSPF SPF. The reason being that the OSPF SPF is saturated and the RSVP strict path has excess capactity available.

A secondary reason is there is a Mikrotik router in the OSPF SPF path and I can't get it to exchange labels with the ExtremeNetworks.

Yes, if you want to get the service label automaticaly.

That's what I thought. In the Juniper, I can use LDP tunneling through my RSVP path but I don't think the ExtremeNetworks supports LDP tunneling.
