What is the solution for 3,000 APs?

Hi I'm new to Identify Wireless Appliance. I know that C5210 can support up to 2000 APs which need HA mode. My questions are below

1. What is the solution for using more than 2000 APs? Can controller work like Main controller and another controllers are slave? If can how many controller can work together is there limitation?

2. For AP licenses I know that there is license pool and is this work with multiple controllers?

Anyone has some documents to explain this please share to me.

1. the Extreme solution use the 1:1 redundancy concept = you put two controller in a HA pair.
If you've more then 2000 APs you just use more pairs for redundancy.
i.e. my customer has 4x C5210 for up to 4000APs.
You'd configure master/slave but that would mean that you connect only 1000APs to your C5210 HA pair.

2. controller in a HA pair could share licenses, i.e. EWC#1 and EWC#2 have both 300 licenses installed so you'd connect up to 600APs in any configuration so 600APs on EWC#1 and 0 on EWC#2 or vice versa or distributed on both

More question about Master/Slave architecture.

1. This Master/Slave is suitable for distribute controllers to the regional office?

2. Is there any limitation of the number of slave can we have?

3.  This architecture is single configuration at Master, isn't it?

The max is 2 controllers in a pair but you can create a mobility domain and group pairs of controllers together. The current recommended limit is 12 controllers or 6 pairs.

Yes you can have the controllers at different physical locations but you  need to be aware of the traffic between them and also between the controllers and the APs.

A correction to Ronalds comment above is that you can connect 2000 APs to an HA pair of 5210. Each controller can take 1000 APs and in the event of one controller going down the remaining controller can handle all 2000 APs.

For the mobility domain. Can we have different appliance pairs in the same domain such as I have a pair of c25 and another pair of c5210.

I think it's possible use only 3 controllers to solve the problem, each one with 1000 APs. For HA redundancy, we could get 3 pairs between then, where each controller would be master for a pair and slave for the other. 

Or simply use two controllers with 1500 APs each and the third for HA for both.

No that is not possible. Each controller can only be paired to one other controller not 2 as you are describing.

Also you can only have a max of 1000 APs adopted to the controller. In failover you can do 2000 but you cant adopt 1500 to it for normal operation.

Sorry for not beeing precise .. with master/slave I mean active/standby = 1000APs on EWC#1 and no APs on EWC#2 - if #1 fails #2 will take over.
Some customer like that setup even that would result of using only 50% of the max. possible AP count on the controller pair ... i.e. customer want to avoid inter controller mobility

3. There are some general settings that you'd need to setup on both controller individual but the main WLAN/SSID configuration could be done on either one of the controller pair and is synchronized to the other controller (if sync is enabled).

If you have more HA pairs and also have Netsight you'd use the adaptive UI = access all the controller GUIs in one window instead of have 6 windows open - you'd see a screenshot of it in this topic...
