Hi Community

The "Channel Inspector" in the controller reports is pretty cool.
I do have a question regarding the accuracy of the channel rating provided.

Below is a screenshot of one AP.

Channel 108 is marked as being the best channel to user, but this is the only channel with Co-Channel interference.
Surely channel 100 will be the best option to use.

Your comments would be appreciated.

Thx
Andre

Hi Andre,

in my opinion the ranking is just a kind of warning level. This makes more sense to me and my experience so far.

Edit: Ok i found the description for the ranking, and you are absolutly right. So because of this, it doesn`t make any sense to me right now :)

Regards
Philipp

Hi Andre

We could look at this as a support issue if you open a case, it would be good to get the tech supports, AP logs (from the AP's on the channels listed) and a simple diagram to show AP locations.

Yes it's weird...

result if you click on channel#36 = 3x adjacent channel because AP3801i-1 is on channel#44+1

result if you click on channel#44 - 3x co-channel also AP3801i-1

I'd say that isn't correct - the same AP is listed as adjacent (OK) and also as co-channel (NOK).

With that information let's talk about your screenshot - the AP is set to 20MHz on channel#108.
I assume if you click on channel#104 and 112 it will list one AP on each channel = adjacent = OK

The result shows the view of the AP on channel#108 so even if you switch to channel#100 that would mean that you've once again one AP on a adjacent channel = 104.
So the current channel is as good as channel#100 BUT #108 in my opinion should have more * as channel 104 and 108.

I'm a bit confused by this output:

It's from a building where all the nearby APs dynamically selected channel 36. What I don't understand is why channels 157-165 are ranked so low. Also the star rating doesn't seem symbolic, it really just acts as a sort order than a measure of channel quality.
