Hello,

we got a strange Temperatur Problem with an X440-24t:

The switch displays two different temperatures!

Logfile:
10/30/2014 13:27:22.37 Environment warning reported. Setting Environment LED color to Amber10/30/2014 13:27:22.37 Switch: Temperature (59 C) is reaching maximum limit (60 Celsius). (X44

Show Temperatur:
Field Replaceable Units Temp (C) Status Min Normal Max---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Switch : X440-24t 45.00 Normal -10 0-48 55

The Fans are Operational, but only start at 48°C (shown under "Show Temperatur").

any ideas or suggestions?

regards,

Lars

This is an old issue which was fixed.
But might have arrived again.
If you have other x440 with hardware revision >4 please check them as well.

Hey this looks to me an old bug in 15.2 has returned in 15.6
For Fan reliability it will be "switched on " only when temperature hits 46 on switch.
Actually it is not the exact room temperature but the calculation is as below
switch temperature == room temperature + 16.
So in ideal situation at 30 C [room temperature] X440 fan starts rotating.
Once it goes below 45.5 fan stops.this is for relaibility of Fan.
I see you have hardware revision of 10.
This behaviour was introduced from Rev 4.

I would suggest you to involve TAC.
Reason this might be a bug.
1.show tech all.
2.TAC engineer will need Remote access to collect
"dmesg" from shell
cat \proc\extr\fan

Hello Lars.

I see you are on 15.6 which is a newer version of code. Have you seen this on other versions as well.

I would suggest opening a case as 15.6 is brand new code. I am checking internally as well.
