x670V-48x multicast L3 hardware table full

Hello,

At a customer we are using 3 stacks of 3 x670v-48 switches.
These are configured native stacking.
The multicast used is PIM Sparse mode.

In the log file I keep seeing the following message:
Slot-2: IPv4 multicast entry not added. Hardware L3 Table full.
When checking the L3 hash table using the following command:
show iproute reserved-entries statistics
I see a total of 357 entries, when the Theoretical maximum is at 4096.
The firmware we use on the switches is 15.4.1.3

Does this entry in the logs indicate a problem with the ipv4 multicast configuration?
If so, what impact does this have on the streams?

Hi Erwin,

i recommend you to bring this switch to a recent firmware to exclude all the old bugs ...

Here the vendor recommendation matrix:

Can you give the output of the "show iproute reserved-entries statistics" CLI command?

Hello,

Thanks for the information.
In the first article you provide instructions to configure an IGMP snooping filter per VLAN. The example given in the article is that a certain Hardware Limitation of a table has been reached, but that is not the case in our environment.

In fact, the maximum multicast adresses is around 4000 on a x670v-48 switch. Is this still a step you recommend to follow?

To me, the information shown when using the command
show iproute reserved-entries statistics displays expected data (around 370 multicast adresses).

Is it possible that this has something to do with the firmware we use?
Firmware version 15.4.1.3 Best regards,
Erwin
