Adding ELRP Trap to NetSight 6.1 Alarm Manager

Userlevel 2
I'm trying to add a new alarm trap to NetSight.

I want all my switches to send a trap to netsight when ELRP detects a loop.

I've created a custom alarm from it but there doesnt seem to be any trap for ELRP.

I know the MIBs are on the server just no idea how to add them.

Append on the server in the file \NetSight\services\trapd.conf:

(make a copy of the file first)

#

EVENT extremeElrpVlanLoopDetected .1.3.6.1.4.1.1916.4.6.0.1 "Status Alarms" Major

FORMAT Loop Detected

SDESC

There is a loop detected on the network

EDESC

#

Restart the services.

Now you can create the alarm and select the trap 'extremeElrpVlanLoopDetected'

Can I just cut and paste this reply to the trapd.conf file and restart netsight? Then just create the new alarm and select the extremeElrpVlanLoopDetected. I am just trying to make sure I understand the Johan's instructions.

Hi Johan and Ian,
could you tell me wich services I have to restart in order to view the new trap on alarm manager?

I have restarted snmpd and nssnmptrapd but I didn't see the new trap.
I have seen it only after restarting the server.

Thank you in advance,

Hello,

I have successfuly create ELRP trap alarm. Comparing to Ridgeline, Netsight gives out less details of ELRP. How to add more details to ELRP alarm mail. I tryed adding stuff but did not receive satisfactory output. I wanted to receive affected vlan and port. Used Arguments: $trapArgs
Subtype: $alarmSubcomponent but those two give out nothing.

Have you tried the $message keyword?
