Netsight Syslog setup on XOS

Userlevel 1
Hi everyone. Is there a version of xos that will allow Syslog to be setup and pushed out to extreme switches as you do with traps?

Do you mean that NetSight would automatically configure the switch so the switch pushes Syslog messages to NetSight?

Hi yes

In EOS config can be done on Netsight and then pushed to the switches. XOS doesn't seem to work like that yet.

Hi,

All versions of EXOS support sending logs to a syslog server. You can find information on setting this up at the link below:

Yes that is how we currently do it. As this is a new deployment with 500 switches doing it on each switch is a freightening prospect.

you could write a script and apply that to all your switches.... would be much easier than doing one switch at a time.

You could use Netsight to push a script out to these switches and configure the syslog server.

Edit: Looks like Robert beat me to it.

I like where this is going, however if NetSight doesn't include the ability to automatically push syslog management settings to the switch for proper setup, shouldn't Extreme include a default Syslog script in NetSight so clients can just deploy it when they push out switches?

You can push trap and syslog settings to EOS switches with netsight. I would have thought that sort of thing was available on later releases of XOS, hence the question, but apparently not. i really don't have the ability to right scripts for that myself.
