We are pleased to announce general availability of the V300-8P-2T-W – a new addition to Extreme’s Extended Edge Switching solution. This new model is the first in a series of new V300 models planned for introduction later this fiscal year and adds to the existing V400 family of Extended Edge Switching devices.

The V300 is ideal for Retail, Education or other verticals where a traditional IT/wiring closet approach may be too complex – and that still need the “reach” to connect many IoT devices.

Supported by the ExtremeXOS 30.2.2 release, this new solution can benefit your customers by:
Enabling Simplified Deployment and Operation
V300-8P-2T-W edge switches and ports are configured and managed through a central X465 aggregation switch. With central oversight, enterprises can easily add, move or change their wired edge infrastructure – all from a single control point. Furthermore, V300 ports provide the same advanced services as the central X465 switch for a uniform and consistent end-user experience.
Benefit: Reduced complexity and management overhead.

Providing Automated Set-up, including PoE power
V300-8P-2T-W edge switches draw their power from the uplink X465 switch’s 30/60/90W PoE ports and then supply PoE power to downlink connected devices. No separate V300 power supply connections are required. The V300 also automatically identifies itself and downloads its configuration -- all without pre-provisioning or network boot services.
Benefit: Non-technical workers can easily set-up the V300, and even handle adds, moves and changes.

Offering “Spine-Leaf PoE” – a New Edge Switching Architecture
The V300-8P-2T-W is centrally managed and PoE powered by the X465 aggregation switch, enabling a new unique collapsed architecture. A “Spine-Leaf PoE architecture” with X465’s as the spine and V300’s as the leaf switches can deliver end-to-end PoE power. This configuration can be made even more robust by dual-connecting the V300-8P-2T-W to separate X465 aggregation switches for increased PoE power draw and redundancy.
Benefit: A cost-effective, easy-to-operate architecture with PoE power and device management all centralized in the X465 “spine” switches.
