how to assign name on switch?


how do i change my switch name? My switches shows name as X440-48p.5 # I want to change different name.

configure snmp sysname NEW_NAME

"configure snmp sysname sysName", would change the name of the switch.

It's not an intrusive command, you could change the switch's name on a production environment and save the configuration.
No.
Once you put the command in switch, the switch name automatically change with out save but after that you need to put save command otherwise if you reboot the switch the previous name will occurred again.

A maximum of 255 characters is allowed in sysname.
