Question

Temperature on X440-G2-24x

Does anyone notice that "show temperature" command on X440-G2-24x shows too high temperature. Some of the loaded with MGBICs switches can reach 90 Celsius, which I think is not acceptable. Firmware used in the switches is SummitX-22.3.1.4.

Hi,

I experienced some high-temp scenarios, but not in real time, I can just share with you that when the Switch detects a high-temp outside the acceptable values, it raises a warning in the log like this:

You can check with the #show log command if some warning about temperature is raised.

When the system consider itself that the temperature is too high, it shuts down

This log was taken after a fire incident.

Normal operating temperature range for the X440-G2 as well as other second generation switches is 10-110 degrees Celsius and this is explained in the following KB article: https://gtacknowledge.extremenetworks.com/articles/Q_A/Normal-operating-temperature-range-for-a-Summit-x460-G2-24t
