SNMP Traps for unadopted Access-Points to our Monitoringtool

Hello together,

we want to realize that we only SNMP Traps for unadopted Access-Points send to our Monitoringtool "Spectrum". (WiNG 5.x)

We have try to configure only Traps for "unadopted access-points"

but we recieved no traps, but we have start a Test with two un-adopted.
Is it the correct trap we have actived, or anyone have configured a same construction or have an idea?!

Thank you in advance!

Dan,

I'm assuming the question is for WiNG 5.x

You can turn individual events on or off for snmp, syslog, email, or controller logging under the Event System Policy.

In the Web GUI, you can get to that via Configuration. Under Device event policy will be in a list on the left. If you select that, you'll then choose the Event Policy Name you are using. From there you can select events under each Event Module (device, dot11, ap, etc...) and choose how you want the system to report or not report them.

In CLI, you would go into config mode and edit your event-system-policy.

To enable an event for snmp you use

snmp on

to disable an event that's enabled by default you use

snmp off

Examples:event device unadopted snmp on
event system login-fail-access snmp off[/code]

Rather than setting the SNMP TRAPS on the AP, it would be better to set the traps on the controller to tell you when the AP unadopted. This would be under the DEVICE TAB on your event policy. If you set the AP to notify you when it unadopts, you will not be notified if the AP looses network connectivity

Hi,

As Andy wrote above - it is better to have the adoption monitoring centralized hence use it on controller.

You have to be careful where is the policy mapped. Think of the case device offline / down. AP won't be able to send trap for offline as it is offline, right?
Make sure you have adoption / availability related events configured on controller rather than end device.

Also, be careful what events are you setting - we have multiple adoption related events in system monitoring

Recommendation - start with wider setup and narrow it down...

Ondrej
