Enterasys survey AP power config

Hello all,

I'm doing a wireless survey with an Enterasys 3715e for the first time. The AP was configured by someone else to run without a controller. It broadcasts a custom SSID that he set up. I can read it just fine. My issue is that I'm unsure how to find out the current power setting. I know that I can "cset power 0" to change it but I started surveying with whatever power setting is was set to. I've looked through the "cget config" and can't decipher what the power setting is. Any advice helps.

Thanks

Victor,

You may have to increase the buffer on your CLI session, but at the beginning of the output it will show "global" settings and after that it will show you the complete settings for Radio 0 and Radio 1 including max power.

If you followed Jason description you shoud see the current settings. Don't forget to add the antenna gain to the radio transmission power to make sure you use the right values.

You can add a grep to the "cget config"

For example:
# cget conf | grep Power
minPower 0 4
maxPower 0 15
atpcAdjPower 0 0
minPower 1 4
maxPower 1 15
atpcAdjPower 1 0

Cool, did'nt know that the CLI included some unix shell commands.

As you use the model with the ext. antenna please keep in mind to configure the correct one.
Otherwise you could end up exceeding the max allowed EIRP in your region.

In that case your site survey wouldn't be valid.

i.e. the 3dBi omni would look like that on the CLI ...

# cget config | grep antenna
radio 0 antennaType left 0xf00f middle 0xf00f right 0xf00f
radio 1 antennaType left 0xf00e middle 0xf00e right 0xf00e
radio 2 antennaType left 0x0 middle 0x0 right 0x0
antennaPortAtt 0 -1[dB]
antennaPortAtt 1 -1[dB]
