Does the xgm3sb-4sf module support Gigabit Ethernet transceivers?

Hi,

Would anybody know if the xgm3sb-4sf module supports Gigabit Ethernet transceivers? From what I've been reading, I have a suspicion that it doesn't.

I've tried putting a 1Gbps LX optic in this module, although the switch recognises it, the link doesn't come up.

On the X460 data sheet, there is mention of a XGM3S-4sf module. It describes it as a 4-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet module, provides four SFP+ ports. These four SFP+ ports can support both 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ transceivers and Gigabit Ethernet transceivers. However, I see no part number for it so my guess is that it doesn’t exist?

Thanks.

Hi Stephen,
I've asked our lab team to test this. I'm pretty sure it will work. Are you using LX optics on both ends of the connection? Have you tried SX optics?

Meanwhile, would you mind sharing the output of this command, substituting the port number for one of the LX optic ports.
show port [port_number] config no-refresh
Note: if you use the "pre" button when pasting the text in, it will maintain the font spacing for easier readability.

Thanks,

Hi Steve,

We just ran a quick test in the lab, and found auto negotiation was turned off by default.

We ran the following command to enable auto negotiation:
X460-24p.8 # conf port 31-34 auto on speed 1000 dup full
Here is an example:
X460-24p.8 # sh ports 31-34 conf no

Hi Judah & Drew,

Thanks for your quick responses.

I enabled auto negotiate as mentioned by Judah and the ports came up.

Thanks for your help.
