Hi,

I have an AP630 which is powered from a UniFi PoE++ Adapter (60W) however, the LED is flashing white to indicate low power and in the Wired Interfaces i can see it states against the interfaces and orange warning icon which states "PoE Degraded" when i hover over it with the mouse.

Should this not power the AP sufficently?

APs with higher power (PoE+) requirements often display this issue with various switches that power them
On Aruba 6300 I needed to add to the port: power-over-ethernet allocate-by class
On HP 29x0 I needed: no lldp config 2/8 dot3TlvEnable poeplus_config

See what you might need to adjust in UniFi

Hello @TheBR,

Tested a Ubiguiti POE++ power injector on our APs and the most I could get out of it was 802.3AF power no matter what was tried, which is what you are seeing. These power injectors don't seem to be compatible for some reason. No further tests were made.

BR,

That is really dissapointing given this is supposed to be a standard Christoph S, but i feel this lies with the injector rather than the AP so i think i'll go an ask over at the Ubiquiti forums.

Thanks

it likely means the access point is not receiving enough power. While 60 watts should theoretically be sufficient, there are several reasons this issue might still occur. One of the most common causes is poor cable quality or excessive cable length, which can result in power loss before it even reaches the device. It's essential to use high-quality Cat6 or Cat6a Ethernet cables and ensure they’re not too long or damaged.

Another possible cause is compatibility. Even if the adapter provides the right power rating, it may not be fully compatible with the AP630, especially if it’s not an officially supported injector. In some cases, the warning might be a false alarm caused by firmware issues, so checking for software updates on both the access point and the injector is a good idea. There could also be a hardware issue with either the AP or the injector itself, and testing with a different power source or another AP can help narrow down the problem.

To troubleshoot, start by checking and, if needed, replacing the Ethernet cable with a high-quality alternative. If the issue persists, try using a different PoE++ injector that is known to be compatible with the AP630. Always make sure the latest firmware is installed on all devices involved.

True, tested with cheap Amazon POE++ adapter which worked perfectly. The Ubiquiti POE++ injector was tested on multiple different AP models and OS's with same result. The issue definitely lies with the power injector.

BR,
