Yep, had this working on classic, and eventually got it working when we moved to ng. Take it youre having issues?

Ah, you said aerohive radius, I thought you meant on the WAP itself. Haven't used LDAP for a while, but from what I remember the default memberof should work unless you changed it, but the memory isn't what it used to be  What did you end up using?
