I posted to the other conversation with the same title, so in case they delete one of them as a duplicate here it is again- What firmware are you using? Some of the 8.x firmware had issues over-reporting interference in some fields, but I think the latest firmware is fine (no issues on my side at least).

Georgia, Could you please specify what 8.x firmware had reporting issues and what is considered latest firmware? I see 8.3r4 what seems to be newest version number and then there is 8.2r2 that was released after 8.3r4 for both AP230 and AP250.

Hi there,

I was interested in this after looking in to some issues myself recently and noticed that the figures seemed odd. However, if you add up all the rx frames it comes to 1061847451. Take off the rx CRC errors (478077826) and you're left with 583769625. So, divide the errors by the total (478077826 divided by 1061847451) and multiply the result by 100 to get the percent and you get 45. The maths works out by my understanding but I was previously unsure when looking through some counters myself.

I hope that clarifies it for you.

Nathan Walker

LAN3 Support,

Thank you for helping. And I see where I went wrong on the math for that one. I used the same method that you laid out above on another AP, and the results do not seem to be correct. Below are the statistics, I took the number of CRC errors 58934 / 207984 = .28*100 = 28%

70436 rx data frames

    69932 rx unicast data frames

    430 rx multicast data frames

    74 rx broadcast data frames

72406 rx management frames

48 rx BAR (Block Ack Request) frames

6160 rx Retries

8% rx retry rate

58934 rx CRC errors

58915 rx CRC errors with no physical error

19% rx CRC rate

0 rx frame errors other than CRC

0 hw FIFO overrun

9 decryption failed

0 MIC failure

0 rx frames dropped

    0 frame too short

    0 frame too large

    0 frame in other mode

Hi James,

I would look at getting your AP230 on to a different firmware version. I've had some experience with issues on version 7. Version 6.5r9a is the version they recommend for the wave 1 access points. Even if this doesn't necessarily fix the stats, it would be worth ruling out and avoiding using this version given my experience in it. Personally, I would get the firmware changed and then check the stats on the 230 afterwards.

Kind regards

Nathan W
