Hi Aerohive Support team,

We just renew our contract with extreme and we have old AP121 with 5.1r3a.0964 and 6.0r2b.1190

Is AP121 able to upgrade right away to 6.5r12 or need to upgrade few time with different firmware? (5.1-->6.0-->6.1-->6.3-->6.5, etc) . Where can I get the old firmware as I can’t get it from extreme portal for firmware less than 6.5.

You can manually upgrade the HiveOS/IQEngine to the latest version via CLI or AP web GUI. You could not do it via XIQ for APs with these old HiveOS releases because TLS 1.0 is disabled on XIQ. See the linked KB article for the details.

Thanks Paul. Which mean it is not necessary to do it multiple firmware upgrade ((5.1-->6.0-->6.1-->6.3-->6.5, etc) as per previous community solution?

You can upgrade to the latest firmware directly by using the CLI or AP web GUI. You don’t need to follow the upgrade path mentioned by you.
