We have AP650s deployed in our environment and have recently updating to firmware 10.0r8. These APs are getting POE power from Aruba 2930m switches. AP 650s across our environment are sporadically rebooting. Messages from the switch indicate a power request and delivery failure.

At this point I believe one or all of these things are happening

* The code is buggy and somehow the request for power message is confusing the switch

* The switch code is buddy and somehow the request for power is confusing the switch

* A combination of both

* 10.0r8 changed the LLDP method and this is causing issues

After further research I am not sure if it the firmware version, the switch, or both. Just reaching out to see if others have had this experience.

Check PoE status on AP by running show system power status.

Check power delivered on switchport.

The interesting thing about this is. The AP reports full AT power. The switch port reports it is delivering power correctly. If you review the switch logs however you are presented with an error stating the PD requested too much power and the port is being shut down. The switches have plenty of power available at this time. Packet captures show LLDP packets coming back from the switch that appear to show delivery is broken.

Have you tried poe-allocate-by class at the switch port?

I have enabled this on a few APs, we will see if this changes the behavior, thanks for the recommendation.
