Hi everybody.

How do deal with MPLS from VDX-6740’s perspective? - a novice asks.

Does this switch manage & deal with this technology? Does NOS do MPLS? If yes where to find more info, any docs, on it?

NOS does not have any support for MPLS. If you want to use MPLS, you need to take a look at the SLX, CER, MLXe series.

Which product would be best for small deployments(and small budget) would you know?

Can you qualify what a small deployment can be? Fibre ports, copper ports, how many network devices or locations?

Fibre and no more than 24 ports and to link two locations.

The classic

CER will do this:

BR-CER-2024F-4X-RT-AC / or -DC with NI-CER-2024-ADVU-SW (Advanced routing and MPLS license)

A newer product is the SLX in the 9540:
BR-SLX-9540-24S-AC-F / or -DC with BR-SLX-9540-ADV-LIC-P (Advanced routing and MPLS license)
