Could someone please tell me the recommended firmware to upgrade to on the VDX6740 please as of today 25th Aug 2020.

Hi Russ,

The latest version of NOS for the 6740 is 7.4.1 with the latest features.

What is the current version of NOS you have installed in your environment?

Are you looking to upgrade for stability or to take advantage of new features?

If you are looking to upgrade for stability purposes and don’t need new features, you can upgrade to the latest patch or next major release to minimize upgrade time.

Hi Truyen thanks for your response but unfortunately it doesn’t really answer my question. Extreme Networks would have a recommendation as to which FW to upgrade to don’t they? There is a belief that the recommendation is to upgrade to 7.2.0e.

We are running v7.2.0c ATM.

Yes, in this case, it’s NOS v7.4.1 release since it’s End of Version Maintenance (EOVM) date is May 2023.

Since you are on 7.2.0c, if you upgrade to 7.2.0e which will be less disruptive, but it will only be patched till Feb 2021.

Lastly, if you plan to upgrade to 7.4.1 and have 40G optics, I would recommend waiting till 7.4.1a is release first due to the below Field Notice.
