VDX fabric configuration

Hi All,

Currently, several VDX8770 and VDX6740T are configured with VCS fabric, as shown below.
* VDX8770 <---> VDX6740T

Here, we need additional configuration of Transparent firewall between VDX8770 and VDX6740 ISL port.
* VDX8770 <--> Transparent Firewall <--> VDX6740T

Q1) If additional transparent firewalls are connected between ISL ports, will the fabric configuration work properly between VDXs?

Q2) Is there an official reference for these configurations?

VCS fabric ISL will only form between directly connected VDX switches.

It is not possible to connect an intermediate device between switches in a VCS fabric.

Hi,

There is not a specific document that I am aware of, but on page 22 of nos-740-management.pdf (extremenetworks.com)

"When a switch joins an Ethernet fabric, ISLs automatically form between directly connected switches within the fabric."
