Can you please confirm if the switch model is Summit400-48t (ExtremeWare) or X440/450/460 (EXOS)?

If the unit is Summit400 then the configuration will be erased when performing password recovery.

i want to recover or reset my extreme summit 400-48t password
i read that going to bootstrap then bootloader mood
and then "configure none" command will load a default configuration
but will it delete the existing config - or just leave it stored on the switch

when i consoled into the switch and went to bootloader mode
there was no "configure command"
but there was a "use configuration (pri/sec/def)" command
again will selecting "def" delete my existing primary config?

i intend to boot from default config then inside the switchj copy the primary config to a tftp server and edit it on pc

thank you in advance

Hi,

After getting into the bootROM you can type "h" or "help" and follow the options. ExtremeWare is not linux/XML based and "config none" is not available.

Since user credentials cannot run "show configuration" command, I would try to get all possible information/outputs.

Do you know if that switch is performing L2 only or L3?

I would check some outputs as follows (not sure if you can see all with user account):

show switch
show management
show dns-client
show mirroring
show ports redundant
show ports sharing
show vlan
show vlan detail
show vlan security
show stpd
show stpd <DOMAIN_NAME>
show stpd detail
show ports configuration
show ports information
show eaps
show eaps detail
show fdb
show iproute
show qosprofile
show rate-limit
show log configuration
show access-list
show access-mask
show access-profile
show netlogin
show radius
show tacacs
show ipconfig
show upd-profile

Basically those commands can help with L2 and static routes configuration info.

For any other protocol such as OSPF and VRRP you can download the Extremeware-e Command Reference Guide using the link below and check all "show" commands available:

the switch is layer 2
you mean to do these show commands
and save their output
then load default config and re enter those configurations manually ?
