topic Restoring Old Network Equipment for Reuse: Resetting a VDX 6720 Switch in ExtremeCloud A3

I’m new here and recently started working in the refurbishing and recycling business in the Netherlands. Our goal is to restore old equipment so it can be reused for educational purposes or by people with fewer resources. For example, we have an old VDX 6720 10G switch in our stock that still works, but we don’t know where it came from and it has no password. To make it usable again, we need to reset it to factory settings. Since there’s no hard reset button, the process involves connecting via a console cable, accessing the bootloader or recovery mode, and deleting the old configuration files. Once reset, the switch can be safely reused without exposing any previous data, giving it a new life and supporting our mission to provide affordable technology to those who need it most.
