I was wondering if anyone had heard if there is an ETA on a fix for the issue where background scans aren't performed if the radio is on a DFS channel?

I believe this is on the road map for a future IQEngine release, but will investigate to confirm that is the case and provide a rough ETA, if possible.

I have confirmed this is on the road map. It is set to be added in IQEngine 10.4r5, which tentatively scheduled for release in April. The date is subject to change. I would suggest reaching out to your account team or SE for tracking.

I've never seen this officially discussed. I did go down the long rabbit trail of trying to figure this out, and was eventually told this was not something to be fixed, but was instead simply how the APs/software were designed.
I was also told this would never be possible for the APs that don't have a 3rd radio.
I'm very curious if the 10.4.5 firmware will bring this functionality to 2 radio aps (ap250,550, etc.)

@w1f1n00b For now it will only be supported on the following ZERO DFS capable APs starting in IQEngine 10.4r5: AP250, AP650/AP510, AP410C's wifi1. Other models are still under review. I would recommend following up with your SE or account rep for roadmap questions.

To your earlier question, this is a design change, not correction of an issue.

FYI
In limited testing I have updated an AP130 and 2 AP230s to 10.4r5 on APs that were using DFS channels.
When I ran a sho acsp nei on these APs before the update nothing would show for 5GHz.
After the update the same command shows results on the 5GHz.

I updated an AP410C two weeks ago and still have no neighbor's showing.......hmmmmm

@sfolk thanks, can you also send the 'show acsp' and 'show interface' output for that same AP? It seems this radio is missing the vast majority of its scans, only doing 2037 of the requested 18898. The only thing that should cause your scans to be skipped is voice traffic. Is there by chance something connected to this AP/radio that is always sending voice traffic?

Just phones and laptops connected to this AP. During the day several people have Teams meetings and the odd Teams audio call but nothing that would be constantly sending voice traffic.

@sfolk try adding the following command manually or via supplemental CLI:

radio profile <string> scan access dfs

I did not have to do this to get it working when testing with an AP410C, AP250, nor AP510CX. @jayotte did you have to do this to get it working?

Yes adding "radio profile <string> scan access dfs" worked, I now have neighbor information on both 5GHz radios.

So I guess I need to add that command via my supplemental CLI, or should this be automatic with the 10.4r5 firmware upgrade?

I didn't do anything other than upgrade to 10.4.5.
When I checked it again when I saw activity on this thread I noticed it now only shows neighbours on the channel that the radio is on.
I'll try the CLI command when I get a chance (the school year is wrapping up) and see if I get the rest of the neighbours back.
