Hi Johnny,

Presume you're moving to XIQ-SE rather than XIQ (Cloud) - see here: https://extreme-networks.my.site.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000106897&q=upgrade%20xmc%20to%20xiq-se
Looks like the main pre-req is around the licence type in use.

Hi,

I am in the process of retireing an old instance of xmc and moving everything over to xiq.

In terms of migrating all the data, it should be as simple as importing the database backup from the xmc to the xiq, right? Are there any caveats or things to be aware of when performing this migration ?

Hi Johnny,

basically yes, but you could miss some things (firmware, scripts, manual configs...)

you can follow this guide: https://documentation.extremenetworks.com/netsight/8.5/XMC_8.5_Migrating_or_Upgrading_to_a_64-bit_XMC_Engine.pdf?_ga=2.37524256.1696074112.1692794911-251517859.1635268311

This is far more than you need, but a good source of information.

Is there any risk in having two managament instances working against the same inventory?

Ie, do i need to close down the first one before migrating the data to the newer XIQ

Do you also have ExtremControl in use? this could cause problems.

No. But we will probably close down the old XMC instance, just in case.
