Because IP-FIX is performed by the switching ASIC the actual generation of flows is done in hardware but the processing of the flows to the collector is a process in XOS. The XOS process can generate some CPU overhead but that overhead will not effect overall switch packet processing unless there is a lot of slow-path traffic.
