Hello Drew!! I have another doubt.

How I could to check the Tx and Rx power in trnasceiver ports that haven´t ddmi? (Switch Extreme X250 e)

Is it possible?

My boss want to monitor the port transceiver by SNMP in our NOC.

Thanks for your help.
I'm not aware of any plans to add OTDR capability to the switch (though it is possible I wouldn't know...). If anything, I would imagine this would be added to the optic itself, but that would likely make them prohibitively expensive.
After doing some searching, it doesn't appear this is very common to switching gear - separate equipment is almost always used for this kind of testing.

That said, if the optic you're using supports DDMI, you can view the Rx and Tx power, as well as voltage, temp, and current.

I saw some of this discussion on NANOG.. Drew you are spot on there are special optics for OTDR as it has to be able to send a pulse down the fiber and measure the amount of reflection and how long it took the reflected light to return. Very specialized optics. It would then need to have an algorithm to present the loss and findings to you via a web interface or something where you could see the splices and know the distance. This would be a far stretch for any switch or router to do.... Heck I will settle for us being able to pull the DDMI info via a MIB 

The DDMI/SNMP conversation came up again earlier today. Other requests are coming in for it... hopefully it can be scoped for development.
