topic What effect would enabling Spanning Tree globally have on an S4? in ExtremeSwitching (EOS)

If I were to enable spanning tree globally on an S4, would this cause an outage as the topology was established? Should I expect a blip, a few seconds, a few minutes, anything at all? Would it matter if all of the ports were set to disabled prior to doing this (to minimize any service interruption)?

I've read the relevant documentation on the S-series and spanning tree, but it doesn't say anything about the immediate effects of enabling on a production system.

The answer is it depends. There are many variables such as topology, configuration of other devices running spanning tree or other protocols. You may see a minor disruption or a major disruption. Do you know why it was shut off?
It's my understanding that it was implemented this way. That STP was turned off when this (and other) equipment was installed.
