topic EAPS limits - understading "spatially used" in ExtremeSwitching (EXOS/Switch Engine)

Hi Community,

we have a Summit x460 with EXOS 16 and need to build additional EAPS rings.
I had a look in the release notes of EXOS 16 to check, if we reached our limit and there is stated "32 rings, but only four if the ring is spatially reused".

What exactly does that mean, when becomes a ring spatially reused?
Maybe a scenario would be helpful.

Best Regards
Hello, spatial reuse means 1 physical ring is used by 2 EAPS domains where each EAPS domain is blocking a different port. Using this you can use all links instead of having 1 blocking link not being used.
With spatial reuse the link that is blocked by one EAPS domain is used by the other EAPS domain as it blocks a different port.
